ChatGPT Export Not Working? Common Fixes
If your ChatGPT export or upload is not working, the cause is usually one of a few common issues.
I cannot find conversations.json
Make sure you unzip the export first. The file is usually inside the downloaded export folder and named conversations.json.
The file is very large
Large exports can take time to upload and process. Keep your browser tab open while uploading.
The upload failed
- Try again on a stable connection.
- Disable aggressive browser extensions temporarily.
- Use a desktop browser for very large files.
- Confirm the file is a valid JSON export.
